on Faster Scanning

At Laser FX 99, Pangolin demonstrated 50K scanning by
projecting the well-known shows "Creation" (left) and "Tuesday's Day
Off" (right) side-by-side -- using just one pair of scanners!

angolin has done extensive research and
development in the field of scanner amplifiers and driving
galvanometer scanning systems. In May 1999, this research and
development led us to announce "TrueK 50" scanning systems.

TrueK 50
scanning system
he
TrueK 50 scanning system is a modification to Cambridge model 6800
or 6210 scanner amplifiers. Once the TrueK 50 modification is
performed, the scanners will correctly display
all parts of the ILDA Test Pattern when the pattern is being output at
50,000 points per second, at an angle of 7 degrees.

Client acceptance
ince its introduction, many clients sent their
scanning systems to Pangolin to take advantage of the modification.
We were very pleased with the market acceptance of our TrueK 50
modification. We are also very pleased with the improvement that it
made to their shows.

TrueK
50's role in raising the bar
n addition to improving the show quality of
Pangolin's clients, TrueK 50 also had the indirect effect of
influencing the laser scanning market as a whole. Because the TrueK
50 modification effectively doubled the scan rate achievable from
standard scanners, this also effectively raised the bar of
performance sought by scanner clients. As
a result, scanner manufacturers invested time and energy and have
developed their own faster scanning offerings.

TrueK 50 no longer offered
ince it is now possible to purchase 50K+ scanning
systems directly from scanner manufacturers, Pangolin is no longer
offering the TrueK 50 scanning system modification.
At this point,
we recommend that you purchase Cambridge model 6210 scanners or
General Scanning model VM500 scanners for your faster scanning
needs. For more information, consult your Pangolin dealer.

Conclusion
he TrueK 50 modification was a pioneering effort
by Pangolin. We are pleased with the direct result -- that it
enabled our clients to achieve better shows with faster scanning,
and with the indirect result -- that it influenced scanner
manufacturers to develop new products for our industry.
You can be sure that Pangolin will
continue to pursue improvements to scanning speed and accuracy,
through our continuous hardware and software innovation. |
